A Grim Reaper AU.
Edward Gore: A millenia old Hound of Lady Death. AKA a Grim Reaper.
He remembers back to neolithic times, was here before Mesopotamia, and is still, somehow, in awe of humanity.
On Hounds and Humans part the second
a contentious relationship.
the inverse then, of binding a Hound, is a phenomena colloquially known in Hound society as ‘chewtoys’. It doesn’t happen often, and is looked down upon, being seen as rather vulgar, akin to having a punching bag full of meat, as this is essentially what it is. much like Thralls, these ‘chewtoys’ are human beings that Hounds take as, (like the name implies) chew toys. punching bags. things to bite and claw at. While not an enslavement or servitude as a bound Hound is trapped in, there is a level of loss of control, much like that of Thralls. Some humans desire to be these ‘chew toys’, some are relatives of those who has captured Hounds, often taken as retribution, and some are just regular humans who happened to be found by a Hound at the wrong time.
Chewtoys don’t tend to live very long, as their Hounds often don’t want to spend magic to heal them alongside the magic they spend to keep them. Chief among these are the chewtoys that get their souls half ripped out and put back on a regular basis, as this puts a large amount of strain on a mortal’s soul. Often upon death their souls simply tear in two when taken, removing them from any afterlife at all.
The more cruel Hounds tend to leave their chewtoys at home, not wanting others to see how much damage they’ve done, but some desire others to see what they can do, viewing it as a morbid badge of honor, and bring their chewtoys with them out and about.
Art.
on vampires, invitations, and the abode of a Hound.
while not technically a living creature, Hounds do still have a whiff of mortality about them, as do they have home rights, just as humans and other Living Beings do.
(Key note here: Living Beings refers to creatures with human or above consciousness, not animals. If the being changes shape, such as a werewolf, their higher intellectual form is what makes this distinction. Therefore, they too, have home rights.)
These home rights are what prevent creatures such as vampire from being able to gain entry to a home without invitation. This invitation then becomes doubly important when referring to the home of a hound because in addition to these rights, when a Hound has taken up residence on the mortal plane, the magic they spend to keep their domicile there and present also acts as an added protection. Approximately on the level of a ward an intermediate human magic user could conjure.
In general, guests are not able to invite creatures, such as vampires into the residence of a Hound however, exceptions can be made if the guest is someone the Hound chooses to grant some form of residency or a key.

Edward and Vincenz also have many many alternate universes, which will be listed below, but this is one of them.
